The Wait workflow action pauses a contact at a specific step before moving to the next action. It’s one of the most important workflow building blocks because it lets you control timing for reminders, follow-ups, billing, and engagement-based automation.
When you’ll use it most: delays between outreach, scheduling around appointments, waiting for replies/clicks/conditions, and preventing contacts from getting stuck with timeouts.
Pro tip: If you’re waiting for a reply or engagement, always add a timeout path so contacts can continue forward even if they never respond.
Waits for a specific amount of time (minutes, hours, or days) before advancing to the next step.
Example: If a 10-minute delay is set but the contact enters on Saturday and your window is Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm, the timer starts at 9am Monday.
Waits until before, after, or at the exact time of an event or appointment.
Important: This requires a prior Set Event Start Time action. Appointment-based waits also require an appointment-related trigger.
