Settings: Tags

Tags help you categorize, filter, and automate contact management in BizStackPro. Use them to organize leads, personalize messaging, segment Smart Lists, and trigger workflows automatically.

Organizing Contacts in Ways Pipelines Alone Cannot

As contact databases grow, it becomes harder to track behaviors, interests, statuses, and follow-up needs using only pipelines or basic contact information.

Tags in BizStackPro act as flexible labels that can be applied to contacts for segmentation, filtering, personalization, automation, and lifecycle tracking across the CRM.

Without a consistent tagging system, contact records can become difficult to organize, Smart Lists lose accuracy, automation becomes harder to manage, and targeted communication becomes less effective.

This guide explains how to create and manage tags, apply them manually or through automation, organize imports with tags, and use tagging strategies to improve segmentation and workflow management.

Before building automation or Smart Lists, it helps to understand how tags are structured and used throughout BizStackPro.

What Tags Are

Tags are flexible labels you apply to contacts to organize and categorize them. Unlike pipeline stages (which usually represent one place in a process), tags are more granular—you can apply multiple tags to a single contact to represent behaviors, interests, statuses, or attributes.

Path: Settings → Tags

Create, Add & Remove Tags

Create a new tag

  1. Go to Settings → Tags.
  2. Click New Tag.
  3. Enter the tag name.
  4. Click Create.

Add or remove tags manually

Inside an individual contact record:

  • Add: In the Actions area, type the tag name or select it from the dropdown. If it doesn’t exist, choose Add New Tag +.
  • Remove: Click the tag to remove it (or delete it from the tag list, depending on your UI).

Importing Contacts With Tags

Prepare your CSV

  • Add tags per contact in the appropriate column before importing.
  • Or apply a single tag to the whole sheet for bulk classification.

Tip: Importing with tags is one of the fastest ways to cleanly segment a list on day one.

Managing Tags via Conversations

You can often add or remove tags without leaving your inbox:

  • Select the contact in Conversations.
  • Use the tag field/options in the conversation window to add or remove tags.

Automating Tags & Bulk Tagging

Triggers & workflows

Tags can be added or removed automatically based on actions and events. Common automation triggers include:

  • Call status changes
  • Appointment updates
  • Email events (sent, opened, clicked)
  • Form submissions
  • Workflow enrollment or completion

Bulk tagging

In Contacts, use Bulk Actions to select multiple contacts and apply (or remove) tags at scale.

How to Use Tags Effectively

Common ways tags help

  • Filter Smart Lists: Create tightly targeted lists for outreach and automation.
  • Send targeted broadcasts: Email/SMS campaigns to specific segments.
  • Track lifecycle: “New Lead,” “Demo Scheduled,” “Converted,” etc.
  • Lead scoring: “Engaged Lead,” “Follow-up Needed,” and similar prioritization signals.
  • Events: Tag “Past Attendees” and build follow-up sequences.

Naming tips: Use short, text-only tags (spaces are fine). Avoid special characters like & or # because they may not filter reliably.

Example naming convention: Stage: DemoBooked, Interest: FacebookAds, Status: VIP

Organize and automate your contact database

A strong tag strategy makes segmentation, targeting, and automation dramatically easier—especially as your list grows.
