Instagram Direct Messages (DMs) are a powerful way to connect with leads and existing contacts. By integrating your Instagram account with BizStackPro, you can manage Instagram DMs alongside other channels in the Conversations inbox and trigger workflows when contacts reply via Instagram.

This guide covers connecting Facebook + Instagram, enabling messaging permissions, using DMs in Conversations, and automating follow-ups using Instagram DM as a reply channel.

Before you start: Your Instagram account should be a Business or Creator account and connected to a Facebook Page.

Step 1 — Connect Facebook and Instagram

To use Instagram DMs in BizStackPro, your Instagram Business/Creator account must be linked to a Facebook Page.

  1. In the Instagram app, confirm your profile is a Business or Creator account.
  2. Connect the Instagram account to the correct Facebook Page (via Instagram/Facebook settings).
  3. Confirm the Page and Instagram account show as connected inside Meta’s settings.

Tip: If messaging features don’t appear later, it’s usually because the Page connection or permissions weren’t fully granted during setup.

Step 2 — Connect the Integrations in BizStackPro

  1. In BizStackPro, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find Facebook and Instagram.
  3. Click Connect for each integration and follow the pop-ups to log in.
  4. Approve requested permissions (especially any messaging-related permissions).

When disconnected, the icons typically appear grayed out. Once connected, they appear active/colored.

Step 3 — Use Instagram DMs in Conversations

After the integrations are active, Instagram Direct Messages can appear as a channel inside the Conversations inbox.

  • Open Conversations.
  • Locate threads where the channel is Instagram DM.
  • Reply, add notes, and manage the contact like you would with SMS or email.

Good to know: Your DMs still remain in the Instagram app—BizStackPro simply gives you another place to view/respond.

Trigger Workflows from Instagram DMs

You can automate actions when contacts message you on Instagram by using a workflow trigger that detects replies.

  1. Go to Automation → Workflows.
  2. Create a new workflow (or open an existing one).
  3. Add a trigger like Customer Replied.
  4. Set the Reply Channel filter to Instagram DM.
  5. Add your actions (auto-reply, apply tags, create tasks, move in pipeline, etc.).

Example: If someone DMs “pricing,” apply a tag like ig-pricing and send an automated reply with next steps.

Manage Instagram Messaging Permissions

Instagram controls whether connected tools can access your messages. Confirm your settings allow message access for connected tools.

  1. Open the Instagram mobile app.
  2. Go to your Business/Creator profile Settings.
  3. Open Privacy → Messages.
  4. Find Connected Tools.
  5. Turn on Allow Access to Messages (or the equivalent option).

If this is off: You’ll usually only see/manage DMs inside Instagram, and BizStackPro won’t receive them.
